Penyabong is essentially a fishing village. It fronts the South China Sea. Pulau Tioman is located about 25 miles out to sea from Penyabong. Between Tioman and Penyabong there are 12 islands of various sizes.

Penyabong can be reached from Kota Tinggi or Rompin through Endau. Kota Tinggi lies to the South of Penyabong. Rompin lies to the North. Endau town lies to the West.
